Former National Rifle Association President David Keene is set to serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day (IGOLD) event on March 27.
Festivities are scheduled to kick off at 11:30 a.m., with doors opening an hour earlier at the Bank of Springfield Center (formerly Prairie Capital Convention Center) in Springfield. The event is billed as a gathering to “protect your Second Amendment rights” and will include a march on the Illinois State Capital.
Author of the book, "Shall Not Be Infringed: The New Assaults on Your Second Amendment," Keene is also an Editor at Large for the Washington Times.

Hailed as a movement “to put a face on Illinois gun owners,” IGOLD's roots go back to the early 1990s. The first Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) Lobby Day drew a crowd of roughly 200. In 2006, the ISRA joined forces with several other groups to officially mark the start of IGOLD.
With ISRA as its primary sponsor, the event has now become “the number one demonstration of citizens promoting gun owners’ rights in the United States.”
