Andersson shakes hands with House Speaker Madigan after voting for a 32% income tax increase.
Steven Andersson made a screeching, expletive-filled post over the announcement that a SCOTUS appointee vote would go through after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Ginsburg died Sept. 18 at the age of 87. A fast track appointment process is in place to fill her empty U.S. Supreme Court seat.
“Let the hypocrisy begin,”Andersson said in the Facebook post followed by a string of curse words.
The turnabout is nothing new for Andersson who has a cozy relationship with Democrats.
Andersson was once a rising GOP star.
His downfall began in 2017 when he led successful efforts to override vetoes by former Gov. Bruce Rauner, a Republican, that resulted in increased taxes and an unbalanced budget, both of which run counter to the GOP platform.
Andersson lost his position as a floor leader after the votes.
After bowing out as a state representative rather than face an ugly primary challenge, Andersson turned to lobbying, including working on behalf of Democrat efforts, such as the Equal Rights Amendment.
In an interview with the State Journal-Review he revealed he had been working on LGBT rights as well.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker appointed Andersson to the Illinois Human Rights Commission following his departure from the General Assembly.
