State Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) is continuing his gubernatorial campaign across the state, including most recently, a fundraising event in Swansea on Saturday.

Bailey shared pictures from the event on Twitter and thanked those who helped organize it.

“Thank you to former State Senator & President Trump’s Ambassador to Kenya, @KyleMcCarterIL for hosting a fundraiser for us last night in Swansea. Cindy and I had a wonderful time meeting with friends and discussing how we fire JB Pritzker and restore Illinois. #baileyforillinois,” Bailey wrote in his tweet.

Earlier this month, Bailey announced he would be touring cities around Illinois in a statewide bus tour.

“Friends, we will have a huge announcement on this bus tour you don’t want to miss. Please share and join us at a stop near you! #standingwithyouin2022 #FirePritzker #baileyforillinois #baileybus #RestoreIllinois #twill," Bailey tweeted Dec. 8.

Earlier this week, he named former Chicago talk-radio host Stephanie Trussell as his running mate to serve as lieutenant governor, the Chicago Tribune reported.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Bailey called Trussell “a hard working conservative” and “a fighter” as he introduced her to supporters. In the past, Trussell has voiced political opinions on social media, including likening Planned Parenthood to the Ku Klux Klan and questioning the validity of health care professionals calling for COVID-19 vaccinations to curb the pandemic, the report states.

“We’re tired of extreme liberal policies being pushed in Springfield while weak-kneed Republicans are too afraid to stand up and deliver a simple conservative message,” Bailey told the Chicago Tribune. “We need bold and courageous leaders who will stand up for the working people and taxpayers, leaders who will fight for economic prosperity and economic opportunities, our freedoms and support law enforcement to help provide safer communities for every Illinoisan.”

Bailey recently attended the annual Illinois Farm Bureau meeting in Chicago, vowing to uphold his commitment to the industry.

In a tweet after the meeting Bailey said his past work as a farmer makes him dedicated to supporting Illinois agriculture and the thousands of jobs it creates throughout the state.
