Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission Human Rights Authority, North Suburban Region met Jan. 11.

Call to Order:
Chairperson, Teri Steinberg, called the regular monthly meeting of the Human Rights Authority, North Suburban Region, to order at 5:07 p.m.
Members Present: Maralea Negron, Teri Steinberg, Kori Larson, Pat Getchell, and Cristy Neal Garcia
Members Absent/Excused: Maria Reher, Adell Crump
Staff Present: Mariah Balaban
Guests: none
The Chair noted that a quorum was present, and that business could be conducted. Member Larson read the confidentiality statement.
Changes in the Agenda:
No changes were made to the agenda.
Approval of Minutes:
Minutes for meetings in August 2021, October 2021, November 2021, and December 2021 were motioned for approval by Member Negron and seconded by Member Larson. The motion passed. Member Getchell motioned to maintain the confidentiality of the closed session minutes from the August 2021 meeting. Member Negron seconded the motion and the board motioned to maintain the confidentiality of closed session minutes.
New Business:
1) 22-100-9010 (Highland Park Hospital ED) - Member Negron motioned to accept this case, Member Larson seconded, and the motion carried.
2) 22-100-9011 (Evanston Hospital Psychiatric Unit) - Member Larson motioned to accept this case, Member Negron seconded, and the motion carried.
Closed Session:
At 5:10 p.m. the Authority voted in accordance with Section 3955/21 of the Guardianship and Advocacy Act to go into closed session to discuss new complaint assignments and other matters which could not be discussed without revealing confidential information. A summary of closed session included complaint case assignments (22-100-9010, 22-100-9011) and consideration of draft reports (21-100-9010). The Authority voted to return to open session at 5:33 p.m.
Other Business:
Member Larson motioned to accept the report for case 21-100-1010 (Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital). Member Negron seconded, and the motion passed.
Ratification of Prior Actions:
1. Ratification of new case acceptances: Member Larson motioned to ratify acceptance of the following cases, Member Negron seconded, and the ratification passed: 22-100-9004 (Lake Park Center), 22-100-9005 (Alexian Brothers Medical Center), 22-100-9006 (Landmark of Des Plaines), 22-100-9007 (Streamwood Behavioral Hospital), 22-100-9008 (Lake Behavioral Hospital), 22-100-9009 (Central DuPage Hospital)
2. Ratifications of Case Closures: Member Larson motioned to ratify closure of the following cases, Member Negron seconded, and the ratification passed: 21-100-9009 (Northwestern Delnor Hospital), 21-100-9008 (Advocate Lutheran General Hospital), 21-100-9005 (EMHC)
