Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Decatur) has been critical of the Congressional maps drawn by Illinois lawmakers since the fall, as the primary election season kicks off into full swing with just three months left to go.

According to WTTW, the state's new congressional maps were designed to eliminate two Republican seats and add a single Democratic seat, for a likely total of 14 Democratic and 3 Republican representatives in Washington, D.C.

"As expected, our lying governor teamed up with state Democrats to draw a shameful, partisan gerrymander in a desperate attempt to keep Nancy Pelosi in power," Davis said in a statement back in October. "This proposed map, along with this entire redistricting process, is a complete joke. It's clear Governor Pritzker and the Democrats will stoop to any low if it means they can keep their corrupt system going."

The primary election is scheduled for June 28. Davis currently represents the 13th Congressional District, but under the new maps, his district now falls under the 15th Congressional District, putting two Republican U.S. representatives up against each other in the upcoming primary.

According to Ballotpedia, Davis now has to face Congresswoman Mary Miller, the current elected seat holder for the 15th District, in the June primary.  The winner will challenge Democrat Paul Lange during the November General Election.

Four Republicans and three Democrats are currently vying for the 13th District seat. Candidates who've filed as Democrats include Niki Budzinski, David Palmer, and Ellis Taylor. Ballotpedia noted the Republicans who filed to run for the 13th District include Regn Deering, Matt Hausman, Terry Martin, and Jesse Raising.
