Michelle Winn-Cunney, leader of the Illinois Chapter of Parents’ Rights in Education National, backs Tom DeVore for Illinois attorney general.
“There is no question that we need him to be Illinois’ next attorney general," she posted on Facebook. "Corruption is corruption no matter what your political beliefs are. No one is above the law. If you break the law you do deserve to be held accountable and accept the consequences that come with whatever it is you have done. Tom HAS PROVEN that he will do that already, he’s done more the for all of us who live in Illinois than our current 'attorney general,' Kwame Raoul has ever done, and he isn’t even in office YET.”
In an op-ed in the Prairie State Wire, GOP attorney general candidate Tom DeVore criticized Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx for not doing her job and Attorney General Kwame Raoul for being her wingman. DeVore lambasts Foxx for choosing to prosecute some crimes and ignore others. He said it’s a violation of her oath of office to the Illinois Constitution. He goes on to lament the state of Cook County under her rule. DeVore said if he is elected that he will “put Foxx on notice that she will be held accountable for her failures.” He said he would be a good partner if she does her job, but if she continues on her current path, he is willing to criminally investigate Foxx.
Chicago Public Health Director Dr. Allison Arwady believes “this idea that somehow masking is a quarantine, we don’t agree with that at all.” However the law thinks differently. DeVore won a lawsuit in Effingham County against the Teutopolis School District last year saying that masking is by definition not a quarantine order. Even after courts have declared mask mandates unconstitutional, Arwady has still supported masking, Chicago City Wire reported.
The Greenville-based attorney decided to run for attorney general after he successfully sued to overturn the school mask mandate in Illinois. After seeing the effects of the court ruling, DeVore said he had to do more. People were finally free, and he felt he had to do more to protect that freedom. DeVore has also clashed with Gov. J.B. Pritzker over his COVID-19 policies. In response to DeVore’s opposition to Pritzker’s COVID policies, Pritzker called DeVore a “grifter,” according to South Central Reporter.
DeVore is touting his record of standing up to government mandates over the last two years on the campaign trail, Prairie State Wire reported. He is reminding voters what the politicians and their mandates have done to them, and to remember that at the ballot box. DeVore has been a frequent critic of Pritzker’s COVID-19 policies, and he has brought lawsuits on behalf of many different people and organizations challenging them. DeVore has also criticized the Chicago Public Schools and other districts in Northern Illinois for violating students’ rights by mandating masks in schools despite court rulings saying that it is unconstitutional.
