The Illinois Republican Party is holding its annual Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair.
The 2022 Illinois Republican Day Rally at the State Fair will kick off Thursday, Aug. 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Director’s Lawn at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
At noon the speaker program will begin.
“Come hear speeches from Chairman Don Tracy, Illinois Republicans leaders in the General Assembly and Congress, as well as our statewide nominees including Darren Bailey for governor and Kathy Salvi for U.S. Senate,” Tracy said in a recent email. “Before the rally begins, we will be serving a FREE BBQ lunch. You MUST register in advance and receive your free ticket to attend the event.”
The event is open to the first 1,500 who register.
“Everyone else over 1,500 will be issued a simple ticket allowing them admission into the Republican Day Rally event but NOT free admission onto the fairgrounds or a free BBQ lunch. You will find out if you have a FREE ticket on Saturday, Aug. 13 via your email,” the IL GOP said on its website.
Tracy made it clear earlier this year that election integrity is at the top of the party’s mind as the fall elections approach, Prairie State Wire reported.
A so-called “Red wave” is expected in the fall as the GOP is projected to take over the U.S. House of Representatives, according to Roll Call.
The enthusiasm for conservative candidates comes amid a historically low approval rating for President Joe Biden, which according to Gallup are the lowest of any modern president.
