Illinois Department of Natural Resources offers services at upcoming Deer Classic

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is set to participate in the 2024 Illinois Deer Classic, scheduled from March 8 to March 10 at the Peoria Civic Center. During the event, IDNR will provide a range of services and information.

Attendees can expect on-site sales for hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses. Additionally, stamp and over-the-counter permits will be available. Conservation police officers will be present to address inquiries regarding laws and best practices.

Wildlife staff will also attend to answer questions related to wildlife diseases, herd culling, habitat improvement, and more. Information about safety education class schedules and locations will be provided.

Staff from IDNR's Illinois Recreational Access Program (IRAP) are prepared to offer details on public access for hunting and fishing on private properties. Moreover, deer, turkey, and morel pin sales will take place alongside distributions of hunting and fishing digests as well as free publications such as Illinois state park guides.

The Peoria Civic Center is located at 201 SW Jefferson Ave., Peoria. The event hours are from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
