The Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police are advising the public to plan ahead for traffic disruptions during this weekend's Enjoy Illinois 300 event in Metro East. The event, which includes a NASCAR Truck Series race, a NASCAR Cup Series race, concerts, and other activities at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, is expected to draw over 65,000 attendees from June 2 to June 4.

"Enjoy Illinois 300 is a showcase event for our state. By taking a few minutes to plan your schedule and prepare, you can help ensure another safe and successful weekend for everyone," stated Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman. He emphasized the importance of buckling up, driving sober, and being patient whether attending the events or just passing through.

Traffic congestion is anticipated between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday along Interstate 55/70, Illinois 203, and Collinsville Road. Southbound Illinois 203 will be closed to through traffic between Bend Road and I-55/70.

Event-goers are encouraged to arrive early and adhere to signs near the track as well as directions from law enforcement. Public transportation options will be available on both days. Detailed information for ticketholders regarding public transportation shuttles can be found on the World Wide Technology Raceway website.

ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly advised drivers in the vicinity of the raceway to "plan for slow traffic and extra time this weekend if you are driving near the World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison," adding that they should "leave the speeding to the drivers on the track!"

Those not attending are discouraged from driving near the raceway area due to expected delays; alternative routes should be considered instead. Drivers should remain vigilant about changing conditions and obey posted speed limits while refraining from using mobile devices.
