The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced a workshop to guide local governments and communities in applying for funding for transportation projects. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, in Broadview.
"Gov. Pritzker's historic, bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital program has created more opportunities than ever to work with IDOT to improve local infrastructure," stated Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman. He added that these initiatives enhance the quality of life and business growth in communities.
The Special Programs Assistance Conference by IDOT will feature two sessions at the Red Door Meeting Place, located at 1519 W. Roosevelt Road, Broadview, Illinois. The morning session will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon, providing information on the Economic Development Program, Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program, and Safe Routes to School program. Representatives from IDOT's Special Programs Unit and District 1 will be present to address inquiries.
The afternoon session is dedicated to one-on-one appointments with applicants, allowing them to discuss specific projects and applications with staff members. Each appointment will last 30 minutes, and attendees are advised to bring relevant project materials.
Senate Majority Leader Kimberly A. Lightford emphasized the importance of Rebuild Illinois in fostering an equitable transportation system that connects individuals with employment opportunities and essential services. "Our community has the ability to receive additional transportation investments that will stimulate our economy, revitalize our area and create jobs," she remarked.
Due to the competitive nature of these funding programs, advance registration is recommended. Interested participants can register for the morning presentation or schedule afternoon appointments through designated online links.
