Effective July 1, 2023, retailers are required to resume the collection of the state one-percent low rate on sales of groceries that are normally taxed at this rate. This follows the conclusion of a tax suspension period established by Public Act 102-0700. The Act had suspended the state one-percent low rate of sales and use tax on retail sales of groceries from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.

For further details, refer to FY 2023-22, Grocery Tax Suspension Period Concludes June 30, 2023.
