The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) has issued a reminder to senior citizens regarding the Senior Citizens Real Estate Tax Deferral Program. This initiative enables eligible seniors to defer payment of their property taxes and special assessments on their main residences. The program functions similarly to a loan.
