The Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF) Board of Directors has announced the induction of seven individuals into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame. The honorees are Angela Funk, Henry Eilers, Jeremiah Haas, Matt Mullady, Rich McElligott, Terry Wunderle, and Thomas Foss. The formal ceremony will take place during the annual ICF Gala in spring 2025.

"It's an honor to welcome these individuals into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame and to recognize their outstanding commitment to the outdoors and nature," stated Natalie Phelps Finnie, chair of the ICF Board of Directors and director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. "They've done incredible work to promote conservation and outdoor spaces, and Illinois is a better place because each of them."

Since its inception in 2002, the ICF has honored residents for their significant contributions to preserving natural resources and enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities in Illinois.

Angela Funk from Armington has significantly impacted environmental education and land stewardship through her leadership roles at Douglas-Hart Nature Center and Sugar Grove Nature Center. Her career includes protecting over 1,000 acres of land.

Henry Eilers from Litchfield has dedicated his life to environmental stewardship with extensive work in botany. He founded Shoal Creek Conservation Area and contributed to other conservation sites like Route 66 Prairie.

Jeremiah Haas from Cordova manages the Quad Cities Fish Hatchery at Constellation Quad Cities Clean Energy Center. His initiatives have stocked millions of fish into regional waters while reducing environmental impact.

Matt Mullady from Kankakee is known for his expertise on the Kankakee River. He educates others about outdoor activities through seminars and youth programs.

Rich McElligott from Lee has led numerous conservation efforts as president of Shabbona Lake Sportsman's Club. His project "Rockfest" improved fish habitats significantly.

Terry Wunderle from Mason City is recognized for his contributions to archery sports education over 45 years. He coached athletes who won national championships and supported Olympians including his son Vic Wunderle.

Thomas Foss from Wonder Lake focuses on preservation through educational programs that teach sustainable practices. His work aims to inspire new generations towards environmental stewardship.

The ICF was established in 1995 as a not-for-profit corporation supporting programs by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Contributions are tax-deductible according to IRS regulations.
