Jeanne Ives commented on the anticipated actions of Tom Homan regarding deportations. In a December 11 post on X, she said, "Sanctuary Dems flew in over 500,000 illegals in."
"Can't wait to see how Delia, Chuy, and the entire set of Sanctuary Dem Congressmen react," said Ives, Founder. "They flew in over 500,000 illegals and voted to keep the flights coming using our taxes. That's how radical they are."
Ives shared a link to a Breitbart article that discussed Homan's plans to deport illegal immigrants, starting in Chicago. According to the article, Homan has been selected by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the border czar. At an event organized by the Law and Order Political Action Committee (PAC) and the Northwest Side GOP Club, he vowed to deport immigrants and criticized Chicago’s mayor and Governor J.B. Pritzker. "We’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois. If your Chicago mayor doesn’t want to help, he can step aside. But if he impedes us — if he knowingly harbors or conceals an illegal alien — I will prosecute him," said Homan during the event. The report noted that Chicago Alderman Ray Lopez and Nicholas Sposato attended.

Governor JB Pritzker responded to Homan’s statements about initiating mass deportations in Chicago. NBC 5 reported that Pritzker expressed openness to dialogue with Homan but emphasized that Homan lacks the authority for such actions because "border czar" is not an official government position. Pritzker also said his obligation to protect migrants and asylum seekers who arrived in Chicago from Texas or independently.
NBC 5 further reported that under Chicago’s Sanctuary City policy, authorities are prohibited from asking about immigration status or disclosing it to other authorities. Additionally, Chicago police are not allowed to collaborate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deporting undocumented individuals.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson addressed Homan’s comments in a December 14 report from CBS Chicago. Johnson remarked, "This is not about reform. This is about an administration determined to stoke fear into the people of this country." Previously, on December 10, Homan had attributed part of Chicago's troubles to Mayor Johnson and said that Johnson "sucks."
