The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) has reached a settlement with Elevate Trampoline Park to address safety concerns and enhance facilities at its locations in Milan, East Peoria, and Peoria. The agreement follows an incident where the Milan location operated its main trampoline court despite a stop order issued in March 2024 by IDOL's Amusement Rides and Attraction Safety Division (ARAS). The order was given after an inspection that required corrective actions.
During a reinspection in May, it was found that the Milan site had continued operations against the directive. As part of the settlement, Elevate Trampoline Park will implement new safety measures and introduce attractions designed for all age groups. Renovations will include technology-integrated features, a soft play area for young children, and enhanced slides that meet state safety standards. Additionally, Elevate will pay civil penalties to IDOL.
"Public safety is always IDOL's top priority when we're inspecting amusement rides and attractions," stated Jane Flanagan, Director of the Illinois Department of Labor. She emphasized that the settlement ensures compliance with safety regulations at Elevate’s Illinois parks.
Liz Wilson, COO of Elevate, expressed gratitude for working with IDOL to improve park safety and visitor satisfaction. "At Elevate, safety and guest satisfaction are our highest priorities," she said. Wilson highlighted that the new enhancements reflect Elevate's commitment to fun experiences while upholding rigorous safety standards.
The Amusement Rides and Attraction Safety Division inspects public amusement rides annually to ensure they meet required standards. Oversight of trampoline parks began on January 1, 2022, following legislative changes by the Illinois General Assembly to regulate these attractions.
