Edward A. Waldo, 88, Remembered for Dedication to Family and Service

Edward A. Waldo, age 88, loving husband to Christina K. Waldo for 66 years. He was the devoted father of Cindy Schuchart, Linda “Jean” Waldo, and Julie (Ray) Klosowski. Edward was also the cherished grandfather of Jennie (Matt) Altendorf, Jessica Schuchart, and Sean Klosowski, as well as the proud great-grandfather of Liam Altendorf. He was the beloved son of the late Norval and the late Marjorie Waldo and dear brother of the late Dotty (late Ed) Kalchbrenner. Edward was also a fond uncle of Debbie (late Robert) Waldron and the late David Kalchbrenner. He was the great-uncle of Samuel (Sandy) and Blake (fiancée Tina) Waldron and the great-great-uncle of Spencer and Jasper Waldron. Edward was a kind friend to many.

An alumnus of Kalamazoo College, Edward met his wife, Chris, and worked as a K-12 textbook salesman for Merrill Publishing Company and Glencoe/McGraw-Hill. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards of excellence. In the 1970s, he served on the District 143 School Board in Midlothian, the term culminating with him in the role of president partway through. Edward loved fishing and traveling with his family, enjoying summers at Paw Paw Lake in Coloma, MI, and spring and summer vacations at Walt Disney World. He also proudly served in the Army National Guard of Illinois.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 1-4 p.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel in Orland Park, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
