William L. "Railroad Bill" Brushaber | Colonial Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory

William L. Brushaber, affectionately called "Railroad Bill," passed away at the age of 83. A U.S. Army Veteran, Bill was the beloved husband of Veronica J. Brushaber for 60 years and the loving father of Veronica (Thomas) Stein, Tamara (Mark) Holtz, William M. (Gina) Brushaber, Kenneth (Connie) Brushaber, and the late Leonard Brussano. He was the cherished grandfather of Lukas and Peter Stein; Allison and Hannah Holtz; Ryan Gage, Ashton Brussano, and Aidan Brussano; Tommy Meisner and Anthony Julian; and Kaylee and Cassie Brushaber. Bill was the devoted son of the late William and Isabelle Brushaber and the dear brother of Darryl Brushaber and Gerard (Marlene) Brushaber. He was a fond uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill, known for his love of trains, spent his career as a locomotive engineer for Rock Island and Iowa Interstate Railroads, serving with pride and dedication throughout his time in the industry.

Visitation for friends and family to pay their respects will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, starting at 9:45 a.m. from Colonial Chapel in Orland Park, IL, proceeding to St. Damian Church in Oak Forest for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Bill will be interred with Military Honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
