Martin G. Delismon, 80, known as Marty, passed away on January 11, 2025. He was born on December 1, 1944, and lived a life characterized by honor, integrity, and unwavering dedication to serving his country. Raised in Lansing, IL, Marty graduated from T.F. South High School in 1964 and went on to serve two tours of duty in the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return, Marty began a career with ComEd, retiring as a Foreman after many years of service. He maintained a deep commitment to honoring and supporting his fellow veterans throughout his life.

Marty was an active and proud member of the V.F.W., serving in various Officer positions, and dedicated countless hours to the Memorial Squad at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, where he presented military burial honors for his fellow veterans.

Passionate about fishing, hunting, and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, Marty also enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow veterans and had a keen interest in military history. His thoughtful nature was balanced by a lively side, engaging in spirited debates and sharing memorable stories with passion.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Adrienne, step-daughters Lisa and Michelle, brother Ronald, and grandchildren. Marty will be laid to rest with military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be made to V.F.W. Post 1493 or the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Squad.
