The Vandalia Statehouse State Historic Site is set to commemorate Abraham Lincoln's birthday with a special event on Sunday, February 9. Bond County historian Kevin Kaegy will deliver a program titled "The Lincoln Boys in the Whitehouse" at 2 p.m. in the Supreme Court Room located on the first floor of the Vandalia Statehouse. This event is free to attend, and refreshments will be available afterward.

In addition, on February 12, marking Lincoln's 216th birthday, the site will welcome visitors during regular hours for tours and offer complimentary cookies while supplies last.

This celebration of Lincoln's Birthday is sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Old State Capitol Foundation. The Vandalia Statehouse, situated at 315 W. Gallatin St., served as Illinois' capitol building from 1836 to 1839. It remains open to the public from Wednesday through Sunday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
