Doris M. Waldschmidt, aged 99, passed away on January 2, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living in Flossmoor, Illinois. She is survived by her sister-in-law Doris A. Waldschmidt and late brother Frederick G. Waldschmidt, and was the cherished sister of the late Frederick George Waldschmidt and Vera Waldschmidt.

Doris was a loving aunt to Dr. Frederick (Nancy) Waldschmidt, Susan (Scott) Sample, Maria Waldschmidt, Sally (Michael) MacDonald, Jon (Aileen) Waldschmidt, Kathy Waldschmidt, Anthony (Jennifer) Waldschmidt, and a cherished great-aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Born on July 12, 1925, in Harvey, Illinois, to her parents August and Vera Waldschmidt, Doris graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1943. After working at Ingalls Hospital, she went on to pursue a nursing career, graduating from Northwestern School of Nursing at Evanston Hospital in 1948. Her nursing journey took her to Seattle, Washington, and back to Illinois, where she worked at American National Bank as a nurse in Chicago.

Doris, along with her sister Vera, a nurse in Chicago, shared a passion for nursing, the arts, and gourmet cooking. In retirement, they resided in Nashville, Indiana, surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of Brown County and cherished by many friends.

A devoted member of several local organizations, including the Brown County Art Gallery, Brown County Art Guild, Indiana Heritage Arts, Brown County Historical Society, and Friends of the Library, Doris's life was intertwined with her love for the arts and generous community involvement.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Home Helpers in Nashville, Indiana, Sunrise Senior Living, and Providence Hospice for their dedicated care.
