Kenneth graduated from Leo High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. Upon returning from the Army, he entered the family grocery store business, eventually owning multiple stores across Chicago suburbs. In 1993, at the age of 50, he transitioned to a new career path and spent the next 25 years as an American Family Insurance agent in Lemont until his retirement. Kenneth was known for his passion for his family and his work.
In his leisure time, Kenneth enjoyed golfing and savoring a good cigar. He was a founding member of United Sertoma - Lemont Charter and dedicated many years to the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice Eberly; siblings, Clarice Hiratsuka and Jacki Lee; children, Tamara (Garrett) Scott, Kenneth (Susan) Eberly, Cindy (Jim) Quiles, Amy (Bilal) Aydoner; grandchildren, Shannon, Brett, Samantha, Amanda, Hannah, Gabriella, Yakub, Safia, Aliye, Semma; great-grandchild, Liam; step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Danielle, David, Mallory; and several nieces, nephews, and step-great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Rachel Eberly, and grandson, Riley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 2-8 p.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, 108 Illinois St. Lemont, IL., and on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 9-10:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., with interment at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, Lemont, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be allocated for a memorial in Kenneth R. Eberly's name at The Birches Assisted Living & Memory Care, 215 55th Street, Clarendon Hills, IL 60514.
