Homer Glen - Marie Slowik (nee Joyce), 76, passed surrounded by love. She was the cherished wife of Dennis F. Slowik and the devoted mother of Stephen (Ellie) Slowik, D.O., Denise (Paul) Slowik, Loretta (Jesus G Uribe R.) Slowik, and Mary (Matt) Basa. Marie was the loving grandmother of Matthew, Liam, Reid, Colin, Owen, and Esperanza. She was the dear sister of Jim (Melody) Joyce and Kevin (Sharon) Joyce, and the fond cousin of Mary Beth Joyce.

Marie’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She exuded love and support as a strong matriarch within the family. Known for her immense heart and readiness to assist, Marie’s community and church involvement reflected her caring nature. She graciously lent a hand to family, friends, and neighbors in times of need, showing unwavering love and compassion. Marie and Denny's impact extended across generations, leaving a lasting mark on countless individuals.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 18, at 9:45 a.m. at RICHARD J MODELL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 12641 W 143RD ST, HOMER GLEN, proceeding to St. Francis of Assisi Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery.

Marie was a member of the first graduating class of Queen of Peace in 1966, a volunteer at Together We Cope, an employee at Walgreens, a CCD teacher at St. Mary Church, and a member of Cursillo.
