WILMINGTON — David J. Newman, 58, of Wilmington, formerly of Morris, died on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet.

Born on April 27, 1966, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, David John was the son of Donald and Patricia Newman. He spent over 25 years as a union electrician with the IBEW Local 134. David enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, woodworking, and supporting the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. A loving father and grandfather, his family brought him the most joy in life.

Survived by his parents, Donald and Patricia Newman; children Christine Mendez, Brooke (Benjamin) Vowels, and David B. Newman; granddaughter Kaylah Meyers; sister Dorothy Erickson; brothers Donald (Vicky), Bruce (Eileen), and William Newman; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with David's wishes, cremation rites are taking place, with a memorial service to be organized at a later date.
