Thomas W. Kataras, 75, of Jupiter, FL, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Colletta (nee Rauch) and the eldest son of Tom Sr. and Janet Kataras. Tom was the dear father of the late TJ, Jason (April), and Peter (Sara), and loving grandpa to Colton, Wyatt, Wylie, and Ethan.

Having lived in Homewood for over 50 years, Tom was the owner of Tom’s Family Restaurant, Catering on Ridge, and previously owned Lassen’s Tap. He served as a Homewood Village Trustee, was a member of Izaak Walton, and belonged to Glory to God Church in Tinley Park and Divine Savior in West Palm Beach. A die-hard Bears fan, Tom had a great passion for his team.

An avid boater, Tom enjoyed his time with the Lake Michigan Yacht Club and cruising the waters of Florida. He achieved his dream of completing America's Great Loop in his trawler, remaining an active member in the Cruisers Association. Known for being an exceptional grain cart driver in recent farming endeavors, he shared his adventures on the water with his first mate, Colletta.

Tom lived life fully, pursuing his interests in cooking, boating, pickleball, travel, and spending quality time with loved ones. His infectious enthusiasm, ability to connect with others, and see the best in people left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

A memorial visitation for Tom will be held on June 6, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home in Homewood, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Glory to God Church or the Izaak Walton League of America.
