The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will collaborate with the Springfield Area Arts Council (SAAC) to present a literary-themed event titled "An Evening with Gatsby." Scheduled for April 26 at 6:30 p.m., the event will be held at the Dana-Thomas House. This location, built between 1902 and 1904 and reflecting Frank Lloyd Wright's "Prairie Style," is noted for its architecture and original furnishings.
"An Evening with Gatsby" marks the centennial celebration of "The Great Gatsby," the iconic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The evening will include live entertainment, arts activities, and tours of the historic home. Guests are encouraged to dress in Roaring '20s attire to echo the Jazz Age theme of the night.
The event will feature hors d'oeuvres and drinks inspired by the novel, providing a glimpse into the lifestyle depicted in Fitzgerald's work. It serves as a fundraiser aimed at supporting the arts and preservation projects. Proceeds will benefit SAAC's initiatives to make the arts more accessible in the community and the IDNR's efforts in maintaining the Dana-Thomas House.
Tickets are priced at $100 each, with limited availability encouraging early reservations. For more information and ticket purchases, individuals are directed to visit the Springfield Area Arts Council's website. The Dana-Thomas House is located at 301 E. Lawrence Ave, Springfield.
