The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) has announced the resolution of several complaints regarding unpaid wages, resulting in the distribution of over $483,000 to affected workers. This settlement involves Bulk Storage, Inc., a contractor based in Beecher, Illinois. As part of the agreement, Bulk Storage will also pay $85,000 in penalties to IDOL.

"This agreement underscores the importance of ensuring that workers are paid the wages they've earned and are owed," stated Jane Flanagan, Director of the Illinois Department of Labor. "Recovering these funds not only makes these workers whole but underscores that every employer on public works and construction projects is expected to follow the law and uphold their obligations."

The investigation by IDOL revealed that Bulk Storage failed to pay wages or benefits to more than three dozen workers as mandated by the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act. This act requires contractors and subcontractors working on public projects to pay laborers at least the general prevailing rate for similar work in their locality.

It is important to note that this agreement does not imply any admission of liability or wrongdoing by Bulk Storage.

Workers who believe they have not received proper compensation for work done in Illinois can file a complaint online or contact 312-793-2800 for assistance.
