Illinois youth turkey hunters set a new record by harvesting 2,091 birds during the 2025 youth turkey season. This surpassed the previous record of 2,010 set in 2024. The season spanned two periods, March 29-30 and April 5-6, during which 6,573 permits were issued, slightly more than the 6,541 permits in 2024.
Jefferson and Pike counties both recorded a harvest of 69 birds, jointly leading the results, followed by Randolph with 67, and Fayette and Macoupin with 62 and 60 birds, respectively.
The data comparison of harvests from 2024 and 2025 across different counties indicates variations in outcomes. For instance, Adams County showed a slight increase from 49 to 50, while Pike County's harvest saw a significant jump from 55 to 69. Some counties like Alexander saw a decrease, from 24 to 13. Nonetheless, the overall increase reflects an apparent growth in successful hunts this season across many regions.
