The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) will organize a job fair in Springfield on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. This event is designed to give job seekers the chance to apply for and inquire about careers in public health.
Dr. Sameer Vohra, Director of IDPH, highlighted the diversity of roles available in public health, stating, “There are no wrong doors into public health. There are careers in public health for virtually anyone – from medical professionals to communications experts to people who are great with numbers or computers and many more. We need all types of skills to help improve the health of Illinois residents." He encouraged participation in the job fair by adding, "As we celebrate 30 Days of Public Health throughout April, please join us at Springfield Job Fair. We look forward to meeting the public health heroes of today and tomorrow.”
The job fair venue is the Orr Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, accessible through Gate 9. Attendees have the option to register in advance, although it is not a requirement, through an online form.
Participants will have access to information about positions within IDPH and the opportunity to consult with career counselors from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services. These counselors can help job seekers with creating online profiles and understanding the state hiring process. More details on job openings can be found on the Careers at State of Illinois website.
This job fair is part of IDPH’s “30 Days of Public Health” celebration, a monthlong event acknowledging public health activities and professionals. Updates and information can be accessed through IDPH's social media platforms and its official website.
