Shirley L. Zale, born on September 5, 1928, in Chicago, IL, peacefully passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Zale and a loving mother to Debbie Dispenza, Bob Zale, and Karen Dobbins. Shirley was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to her adoring family members. Her parents, Frank and Lillian Kucharski, preceded her in death.

Shirley found joy and comfort in her career at World's Finest Chocolate, where her sweet disposition and love for chocolate shone through. A passionate polka dancer and active member of Let's Polka USA, she delighted in lively dance halls, bringing a smile to all who watched her dance. Shirley's passion for puzzles reflected her patient nature, embodying perseverance and attention to detail in all aspects of her life.

Described as funny, faith-filled, and kind, Shirley's vibrant personality brought laughter and warmth to all around her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, indulging in activities like dining out, shopping, and sharing moments of joy with her family. She had a particular passion for dogs, finding delight in playing with them during family gatherings. Shirley's tradition of toasting "Na Zdrowie" with a shot of fireball, her love for family trips to Wisconsin Dells, and her generosity and compassion defined her legacy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium in Justice, Illinois. The funeral service and Mass will follow, starting at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively, at Saint Daniel the Prophet Church in Chicago, Illinois. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.

In honoring Shirley's memory, her family and friends will continue to celebrate a life filled with love, joy, and laughter that touched the hearts of many. May she rest in peace, knowing her legacy of warmth and wit will live on.
