Chavewan Sangchai | Sheldon-Goglin Kaminski Funeral Home
Starting her career in healthcare after studying nursing at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Chavewan later moved to the United States. She continued her compassionate work as a nurse at various medical centers in the Chicagoland area, notably at Columbus Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was known for her unwavering dedication and respected by her colleagues.
Chavewan was a devoted mother to Marisa Mann, Derek Chutipisalkul, and Catheriya Curran, and a beloved grandmother to Cassidy, Alyssa, Leila, Kensi, Adelynn, Skye, and Bennett. She cherished her family deeply and was a caring sister, aunt, and relative to loved ones in Thailand.
In addition to her professional and family life, Chavewan found joy in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping, tending to her rose garden, reading Thai books, and showcasing her culinary talents, especially through her renowned egg rolls, a highlight at family and work gatherings.
In Thai Buddhist tradition, ceremonies were held to honor and bless Chavewan, offering merit and supporting her onward journey. Visitation and cremation took place on Thursday, May 1, followed by a Buddhist Memorial Service on Sunday, May 4, at Wat Dhammaram in Chicago.
In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to be made to Wat Dhammaram, The Dementia Society of America, Susan G. Komen, or a charity of choice, honoring Chavewan’s memory and spirit of generosity.
Chavewan Sangchai will be deeply missed, her legacy of kindness, compassion, and love continuing to shine through the lives she touched. May she rest in peace, and her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
