FOIA Request to Madison County Treasurer Regarding Property Tax Records 2024 - Present on May 12, 2025.
We, as representatives of Prairie State Wire, have submitted a formal request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Madison County Treasurer. Our request seeks access to property tax records for properties within the county for the year 2024 and any available data for 2025. Specifically, we are interested in obtaining information that includes Parcel ID, Year, Tax Value, and Assessed Value.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, our mission is to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency. Access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities and keep the public informed.
In line with our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals. Additionally, we are part of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
