FOIA Request to The Office of McHenry County Treasurer Regarding Property Tax Records 2024 - Present on May 12, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, Prairie State Wire has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Office of the McHenry County Treasurer. We are seeking access to property tax records for the years 2024 and any available data for 2025. Specifically, we have requested information including Parcel ID, Year, Tax Value, and Assessed Value for properties within the county.
Our mission as a media organization is to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage that holds public institutions accountable. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities and provide transparency to the public. In line with this objective, we have requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating information as members of the media.
