The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) has announced the release of the 2025 prevailing wage rates for construction trades across all counties in Illinois. The new rates, which came into effect on July 15, are based on IDOL's annual statewide survey conducted under the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act.

This Act mandates that workers involved in publicly funded construction and infrastructure projects receive wages aligned with local standards. The objective is to ensure that taxpayer funds remain within the Illinois economy, supporting local labor, encouraging quality employment, and ensuring fair competition among contractors.

Every June, IDOL establishes prevailing wage rates by evaluating compensation, defined as hourly base pay plus annualized fringe benefits, typically paid to workers engaged in similar public works jobs in each area.

"Illinois continues to invest in its workforce and communities through strong prevailing wage protections," stated Jane Flanagan, Director of the Illinois Department of Labor. "These rates ensure that workers are paid fairly and that responsible contractors have a level playing field when bidding for public works projects."

Individuals who wish to contest the published 2025 rates must submit a written objection to the Department by August 14, 2025. If accepted, these objections will be reviewed by an Administrative Law Judge.
