Betty Tryon | Vandenberg Funeral Home - Mokena

Mokena, Ill. – Betty M. Tryon, born in Huntington, Indiana on March 22, 1920, passed away on May 31, 2025. She was the loving mother of Geoffrey and the late Steven, and grandmother to Erica, Ahren, Connor, and Nolan. Betty is survived by her great-grandchildren Maia, Solveig, Samina, Jules, Lucy, Allison, and Gabriella.

Betty was a music educator and performer known for her soprano voice and musical talents. Her accomplishments included being featured on WGN radio as a soloist and making appearances on the ABC network. She later taught music at Ludwig School District and Lincolnway High School, where she composed the school's fight song and chose its colors.

Betty credited her longevity to the love of her family and friends, enjoying life, making people happy, and being kind to all. She contracted COVID twice amidst the pandemic but remained resilient. She spent her final years at Mother Theresa Home in Lemont, receiving compassionate care from the staff and Lightways Hospice Care Team.

A visitation will be held at Vandenberg Funeral Home in Mokena on June 5, 2025. Interment will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian, Indiana on June 6, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice are appreciated.
