The Illinois State Fair has announced its theme for the 2025 event as "Adventure Awaits," setting the stage for an exciting lineup of activities. The fair, known for its livestock competitions, performances, carnival rides, and food offerings, promises a memorable experience.

A highlight of the fair is the Twilight Parade, which begins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 7. This parade marks the start of an 11-day celebration focused on agriculture and community in Illinois. The parade route winds through Springfield and enters the fairgrounds, featuring high school bands, community groups, classic cars, and creative floats. Applications for parade entries are open until July 8.

"The Twilight Parade is the perfect way to kick off this adventure," said Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. "This year's theme invites every fairgoer to discover something new, and it all starts with the parade."

Rebecca Clark, Illinois State Fair Manager added: "There's a world of fun waiting inside the gates. We encourage families to grab a lemon shake-up, find their favorite curbside spot, and enjoy this time-honored tradition. We cannot wait for you to experience all the adventure the Illinois State Fair has to offer."

The parade will commence in Lincoln Park and proceed onto Sangamon Avenue before entering through the Main Gate at the fairgrounds. It will then march down Main Street past Grandstand Avenue before exiting through Lot 21.

On opening day—Thursday, August 7—admission prices are set at $5 for adults and $3 for seniors; children under 12 can enter free of charge. Carnival rides will be available starting at noon with each ride priced at $3 throughout that day.

A special parking deal called "Double the Fun" allows visitors who pay to park on August 7 to return with free parking on either August 12th or between August 13th-14th.

Additionally featured is "Monsters of Destruction" taking place in The Arena at 7:30 p.m., where attendees are advised to use Gate 6 due to anticipated parade traffic.

The Illinois State Fair runs from August 7 through August 17 in Springfield. For updates or more information about events visit statefair.illinois.gov or connect via Facebook and Instagram.
