Hickory Hills, IL - The Reverend Peter Paul Paurazas passed away at the age of 96 after dedicating 70 years of service as an ordained priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago. A graduate of St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, Mundelein, in the Class of 1955, Fr. Peter notably served as Pastor of St. Adrian Parish and St. Rene Goupil Parish in Chicago before retiring and continuing his ministry at St. Symphorosa and St. Patricia parishes. He was also a former teacher at Maria High School and took pride in his Lithuanian heritage, as well as being an avid Chicago White Sox fan.

Fr. Peter was the beloved son of the late Ignatius and Anna Paurazas, and sibling to the late Cecelia Goldwaite.

A funeral Mass to commemorate his life will take place at St. Patricia Church in Hickory Hills. The public visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. and on Monday, August 25, 2025, beginning at 10 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Casimir Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Priests’ Health and Retirement /PRMAA at 1400 South Wolf Road, Building 3, Floor2, Hillside, Illinois 60162.
