Daryl's career spanned various roles, from working at Notre Dame Convent and the Amberg File Plant to managing Pizza Hut and serving as a bartender at T.J. Donlins. She retired after 30 years at J.C. Penney, where she provided exceptional service at the Meadowview Shopping Center and Northfield Square Mall stores.
Known for her warmth and generosity, Daryl took pleasure in attending USO events, playing cards with friends, and participating in Maternity BVM's liturgical music group. She was a dedicated lector, eucharistic minister, and singer for masses. Daryl's culinary talents were showcased in her delicious cakes, caramel brownies, lemon squares, and puppy chow, made with love for her grandchildren, family, and friends.
Daryl is survived by her beloved husband, Melvin; children Michelle (Jack) Gilhooly and Doug (Shannon) Arseneau; grandchildren Catie, Annie, Abbey, and Miles; sister Linda (Joel) Peterson; and many other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janice, brother Ralph, and sister-in-law Marilyn.
Cremation rites were observed, with a memorial visitation on September 28, 2025, and a memorial mass on September 29, 2025, both in Bourbonnais. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Memorials in her name may be directed to Uplifted Care.
The family expressed gratitude to the staff of Uplifted Care, Miller Rehabilitation, Riverside Home Healthcare, and the Bourbonnais Fire Department for their dedicated care over the past five years in honoring Daryl's memory.
