The Illinois Republican Party has put out a "Tax Hike Team" chart showing Democratic gubernatorial candidates’ supposed connections to House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) as they begin to circulate their candidacy petitions.
The mock form describes each candidate's “Madigan Status,” listing J.B. Pritzker as “In Madigan’s Pocket,” Chris Kennedy as “Thrown Rose Petals in Madigan’s Path” and Daniel Biss as “Working hand-in-glove with Madigan Allies.”
“We support all candidates willing to raise taxes on Illinois families, protect the Madigan agenda, and ensure ... Illinois does NOT receive real reform,” the chart's introduction says in part.

The form is meant to highlight the candidates’ relationships with Madigan and their support for tax hikes. It notes that anyone signing the form is affiliated with “The Mike Madigan Machine” and that all the candidates listed are “protectors of the Springfield Status Quo.”
