ISRA on alert for 'trickery,' 'anti-gun agenda'

Gun

Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) Executive Director Richard A. Pearson is warning his group's members to be on alert for new anti-gun legislature.

“Cuckoo Cory Booker is at it again,” Pearson wrote in an ISRA bulletin about the Senator from New Jersey and Democratic presidential hopeful. “Now he wants to imprison gun owners who don’t comply with his radical anti-gun agenda, should he be elected. Remember, he is not the only candidate with an anti-gun agenda. If any of the Marxist candidates get elected, the outcome for gun owners will be the same – very bad.”

Locally, Pearson singled out state Rep. Kathleen Willis (D-Northlake) over what he deems her “draconian FOID card bill.”

ISRA has previously reported that Senate Bill 1966 would require every FOID (firearm owner identification) card applicant and FOID card renewal holder to be fingerprinted at a cost of up to $250. Applicants would also be forced to pay for their own background checks at an additional cost of at least $100.

Expected to eventually be amended to HB96 FA1, SB 1966 has already passed the Senate and now only needs the House to sign off to land on the desk of Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

“Remember that the title of SB1966 will remain the same, so don’t be fooled,” Pearson warned. “The original sponsors may also change. This is the kind of General Assembly trickery that we expected. This is the most dangerous bill we have ever faced.”
