Taxpayer Protection Alliance president David Williams expressed concerned about the latest spending patterns he sees emerging from the federal government.

“I have never seen a time in our history when so much money is being spent and so little oversight is being done” Williams told WJPF Radio. “There is roughly $6 trillion in spending in the last year and the oversight is atrocious.”

Williams argues the latest $1.9 trillion put forth as part of the federal stimulus plan was earmarked before all funds from the last windfall could be spent.

“There’s still a trillion that hasn’t been spent,” he said. “There was $63 billion for education, but only $4 billion was spent last year. Imagine if we could get the rest of that money out to schools.”

Williams said he also concerned about a bill he believes with broaden lobbying rules in a way that the political activities every of virtually every person would constitute a violation.

“That is a huge concern because that’s a free speech issue,” he added. “We all lobby our government. They passed these pieces of legislation but they have no idea how they’re going to carry this out.”
