In an Oct. 13 Facebook post, gubernatorial candidate and Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) shared his visit with multiple police associations in Chicago last week.
“What an honor to have joined the Polish, German, and Irish American Police Associations on Tuesday night in Chicago! Thank you for continuing to educate me on not only your professions, but your history and culture. #standingwithyouin2022 #firepritzker #restoreillinois," Bailey posted.
Bailey is the Republican nominee for governor. He won the Republican nomination with 57.4% of the vote in the spring primary.
In August, Bailey accused J.B. Pritzker of lying to voters after a forum where the governor accused Bailey of "criticizing a portion of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act regarding eminent domain. But CEJA did contain language giving a private transmission line that authority:”
On Oct. 11, ABC7 Chicago reported that "A major Republican donor has now topped $50 million in total donations to Darren Bailey and a super-PAC working on his behalf." Richard Uihlein donated $13.9 million to Dan Proft's People Who Play By The Rules PAC, which has been funding attack ads against Pritzker. Uihlein has so far given $42 million to the PAC, and another $10 million directly to Bailey.
