Coming in September 2021, the Illinois Department of Revenue will introduce a redesigned MyTax Illinois platform. This online account management tool is free and serves as a central hub for individuals and businesses to handle tax-related activities such as registration, filing returns, making payments, and managing accounts.

The updated MyTax Illinois will have a new look designed to be mobile-friendly, enhancing user experience. The homepage now includes panels that adjust based on screen size and a search feature to streamline navigation. Users can access their work through three main sections: Summary, Action Center, and More.

The Summary tab allows users to delve into individual accounts for tasks like filing returns and making payments. It provides an overview of all accounts and balances with links for various activities based on account type.

The Action Center focuses on urgent tasks like due returns or received messages. Meanwhile, the More section offers additional functions such as granting third-party access to accounts or updating personal information.

MyTax Illinois also introduces a keyword search function for easier navigation and a two-step verification process to enhance security.

UI (Unemployment Insurance) accounts are organized under the Summary tab with quick-access hyperlinks for common actions such as making payments or filing reports. Users can filter UI accounts using keywords without scrolling through all accounts. Additional options are available by selecting "View all account options" from the Summary panel.

Service bureaus can utilize the Action Center tab at login for specific actions or UI account access. Registration with IDES or IDOR is possible via the Register panel by selecting "Register a New Business (Form REG-1)." Service bureaus registering with IDES can use the IDES panel option "Register as a Service Bureau (IDES only)."

The Action Center highlights immediate concerns like unread letters or pending actions with direct links provided for completion. The More tab presents various account management actions specific to UI filers and service bureaus. Lastly, the Settings tab enables users to modify UI account preferences, including switching mail status to paperless delivery.
