Altamont Grade School has announced a change to its lunch program, allowing students an additional choice for their midday beverage. Starting Wednesday, April 16, 2025, students will have the option to select bottled water alongside the traditional option of milk.

Principal Kris Biggs stated, "Students can now choose between milk and a small bottle of water." The statement also noted that if a student opts for water as an a la carte item—meaning without purchasing a complete school lunch, or if they desire a second drink—it will be available for $0.50. This price aligns with the current cost of an extra milk.

The school emphasized the importance of ensuring that student meal accounts have sufficient funds to facilitate the purchase of water as a separate item or as an additional beverage. The policy states that a single drink selection without purchasing a full lunch will incur a cost of $0.50.

School authorities expressed appreciation for the cooperation of parents and guardians in this matter.
