The Dana-Thomas House Foundation has contributed $48,874 to the Illinois Conservation Foundation. This donation is intended for the purchase and installation of historically appropriate rugs at the Dana-Thomas House, a state historic site and national landmark located in Springfield, Illinois.

The house was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1902 for Susan Lawrence Dana, a socialite and philanthropist. It stands as one of the most complete early examples of Wright's Prairie-style architecture. The home features over 100 pieces of original furniture designed by Wright and more than 250 examples of art glass.

"The Dana-Thomas House is not only an architectural masterpiece but also a vital piece of our state's cultural heritage," stated Natalie Phelps Finnie, director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. This department operates the house along with 55 other state historic sites across Illinois. "Preserving historic sites like this ensures future generations can learn from and experience Illinois' rich history."

The donation will be managed by the Illinois Conservation Foundation to support the carpet restoration project at the site. Jenny Vaughn, executive director of the foundation, remarked on their collaboration: "We are proud to work alongside the Dana-Thomas House Foundation on this effort." She emphasized that public-private partnerships are crucial for protecting and maintaining Illinois' historic sites and state parks.

The Dana-Thomas House remains open year-round for public tours. More information about supporting preservation efforts can be found at ilconservation.org.
