The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on X that it has arrested Radule Bojovic, a suburban Chicago police officer, for allegedly overstaying a tourist visa for more than 10 years and unlawfully working as a sworn officer during that time.
According to DHS and reporting by NBC Chicago, Bojovic was arrested under Operation Midway Blitz, a targeted enforcement action in Illinois. He had been serving as a sworn officer with the Hanover Park Police Department at the time of his arrest. The arrest was justified by DHS on grounds that Bojovic overstayed a B-2 tourist visa that expired on March 31, 2015.
ABC News reports that the Department of Homeland Security, via its public statements, asserted that unauthorized immigrants are prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law, framing Bojovic’s case as a violation of that prohibition.
