The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has concluded the 2025 Midwest Occupational Licensing Summit (MOLS) in Chicago. The event, which lasted a day and a half, brought together licensing regulators from Illinois and five other Midwestern states to discuss challenges and share ideas related to professional licensing.
This year marked the third annual summit, with the theme “License. Lead. Serve.” Organizers said the theme reflects the responsibility of regulators to protect the public, support communities, and balance oversight with fairness.
“Hosting this year’s MOLS event reflects Illinois’ ongoing commitment to fostering innovation while upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism,” said IDFPR Secretary Mario Treto, Jr. “Bringing together leaders from across the Midwest enables us to share ideas and best practices in professional licensing, ensuring we’re best serving the individuals seeking licensure in each of our states.”
IDFPR serves as Illinois’ main regulatory agency for professional licensing, overseeing more than 1.2 million professionals across 120 industries. The department is responsible for making sure licensees meet legislative and regulatory requirements designed to protect consumers.
Additional information about IDFPR’s recent work is available on its new Hub webpage.
