Illinois undergoes another emergency order for the next 30 days effective the day it was declared by Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
Pritzker signed the order on March 5.
This becomes the 14th COVID-19 executive order the governor has issued over the past year. No lawmakers have had the opportunity to participate or contribute their viewpoints nor had been consulted.
“It’s time for the governor to allow all branches of government to be part of the decision-making process as opposed to the go-alone attitude of the governor which is to mandate through executive order,” Sen. Sue Rezin told WMAY, The Center Square reported.
According to Pritzker, there could still be adjustments depending on the situation, referring to the variants of COVID-19.
“We’re going to keep going, but we’re also very cognizant that we want to make sure that businesses have the opportunity to begin gradually opening,” Pritzker said. “So we’re making changes, adjustments along the way here.”
Additionally, directions for the next Phase aren’t yet concrete.
“We can’t exist in just the Phase 4 limbo and hope that regulations are going to change in the next two weeks or next three weeks, we need a ramp,” Chicago Federation of Labor President Bob Reiter stated.
