The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has reported that adult-use cannabis sales in the state reached a new high in 2023, surpassing $1.6 billion. This marks the third consecutive year of record-setting growth for cannabis sales in Illinois.
According to IDFPR, records were also achieved in sales to residents within the state and the number of items sold, which saw an increase of more than 15% compared to 2022. The Illinois Department of Revenue noted that sales taxes collected from these dispensaries amounted to $417.6 million last year.
