FOIA Request Sent to Ogle County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Ogle County Clerk on January 14, 2025. The request was made by Prairie State Wire, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we sought specific records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. Specifically, we requested an electronic format list of candidates running for the 2025 Consolidated Elections. The desired information includes the candidate's name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the office they are running for.

As a media organization dedicated to reporting news to the public, access to such public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public through our journalistic endeavors.
