FOIA Request to Randolph County Clerk Regarding 2025 Consolidated Elections Candidates on January 14, 2025.
In a recent effort to ensure transparency and public accountability, we at Prairie State Wire have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to the Randolph County Clerk's office. The request was sent on January 14, 2025.
The information sought pertains to the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections. Specifically, we are seeking a list of candidates running for various offices in these elections. The details requested include each candidate's name, the date they filed their candidacy, and the specific office they are running for.
As a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to such public records is crucial for us at Prairie State Wire. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which encompass holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe that we qualify for a fee waiver as a media professional under the provisions of FOIA. We await a positive response from the Randolph County Clerk's office and will continue striving towards greater transparency in local governance.
